Welcome to the OpenDrone Community!
The OpenDrone Community aims to create a quadcopter built on open source hardware and software. We are also developing a number of other open source hardware and embedded projects, such as a Wi-Fi Car, a Frets On Fire Guitar, and some OpenWrt-based projects.
You don't need to be a hardware or software expert to join in! We are playing with these things just for fun!
We hope you'll join us in our crazy experiments with open source hardware and software :)
What is Open Source Hardware?
Open source hardware (OSHW) consists of physical artifacts of technology designed and offered in the same manner as free and open source software (FOSS). Open source hardware is part of the open source culture movement and applies a like concept to a variety of components. The term usually means that information about the hardware is easily discerned. Hardware design (i.e. mechanical drawings, schematics, bill of materials, PCB layout data, HDL source code and integrated circuit layout data), in addition to the software that drives the hardware, are all released with the FOSS approach.
The best-known open source hardware device is the Arduino, a series of single-board microcontrollers, The OpenDrone Community has many side projects based on Arduino platforms.
